Software

This page is a place holder to contain links to downloads of software I have written. I realised that I wouldn’t be able to version control forum posts.

Soft 475 Overclock

Version 0.5.2 New!

Version 0.5.1

This software, allows you to set the system clock speed of your Macintosh LC 475 or LC 575 (and related machines) using software alone. While this sounds surprising, the main clock on these computers was actually programmable on the fly, which means you can set it to whatever speed you like… within the capabilities of your computer. See here for more details.

Startup Jingle

Available on Macintosh Garden

A little Extension and Control Panel pair that lets you select from a number of sounds to play as the desktop loads on your retro Macintosh. Requires System 7.1 to 9.2.2.

Read Only Flipper

Available on Macintosh Garden

A little utility “droplet” that switches files between the read only (newspaper icon) and read/write SimpleText file formats. Helpful for when you need to edit a ReadMe file for a project. Requires System 7.1.2 to 9.2.2.

Resource Miner

Version 0.0.1a4

This allows you to easily apply resource based patches to a file. It works with ResEdit, and Resource Miner files. It copies the entire contents of the source file’s resource fork, but gives Overwrite, Skip, Renumber options. Output is made to a new file without modifying the original. Use with care as this is a very early development version. Bug reports welcome.

This download includes resources from the Mac OS 8.1 System folder that might partially enable HFS+ on late Quadras and PPC (taken from an OS on a P475).

For Mac OS 7.5 to 9.2.2. This may work with System 7.1 as well but is untested.

Don’t Fork It Up

Version 0.0.1a

This application is designed to check classic Mac OS files to see if they have a resource fork prior to uploading them. Files uploaded with a resource fork will become corrupted and unusable.

For Mac OS 7.5 to 9.2.2. This may work with System 7.1 as well but is untested.
